History
The principals of Baring Ventures have been investing in private equity opportunities since 1994.
This journey began with the first fund raised by Baring Ventures’ predecessor companies, marking the start of a legacy of encouraging, funding, and developing more than 100 entrepreneurial projects. These efforts created long-term value for all stakeholders involved.
Over the past three decades, Baring Ventures has garnered the trust of over 50 global institutional investors raising $3 billion in capital for private equity funds.
Baring Ventures has played a pivotal role in taking eight portfolio companies public on major global stock exchanges, including NASDAQ and the London Stock Exchange. Notably, five of these companies achieved market capitalizations exceeding $10 billion, underscoring the firm’s ability to identify and nurture high-potential enterprises. From these and other successful investments, Baring Ventures funds returned more than $6 billion in cash distributions to investors.
In a significant strategic move, Baring Ventures funds decided in 2022 to divest their remaining Russian assets, a transaction that was completed in April 2024 after receiving all necessary regulatory approvals. This decision underlined a shift towards focusing on international investments.
Following the exit from Russia, the funds of Baring Ventures now hold assets valued at approximately $5.5 billion, continuing their commitment to global growth and investment excellence.
